Benson Memorial Library

Located in the heart of Titusville, Pennsylvania, The Benson Memorial Library is a unique and vital part of the quality of life in the Titusville area. Since 1904, the Benson Memorial Library has served as the community center and facilitator of lifelong learning in the area.

Benson Memorial Library offers collections related to local history and genealogy, including Titusville City Directories from 1866 to present, The local newspaper, The Titusville Herald, on microfilm from 1866 to present, Titusville historical births, deaths and marriages, an extensive Titusville obituary card file, Crawford County Census on microfilm 1790-1910, and many other unique books and items specific to Titusville.

Drake Well Museum

The Drake Well Museum tells the story of the beginning of the modern oil industry with orientation videos, exhibits, operating oil field machinery, and historic buildings in a park setting. The Drake Well Museum Research Library contains one of the largest collections of materials pertaining to the birth of the oil industry and its subsequent development.  Approximately 3500 books include oil well supply catalogues, oil directories, handbooks, guides, prospectus of various early oil companies, oil histories, geological surveys, early city directories, county histories, bibliographies, etc. Some 1500 periodicals from early and recent oil companies are also available.  The Drake Well photographic collection is the largest collection of pictures concerning the early development of the oil industry.

Titusville High School Alumni Association

The Titusville High School Alumni Association’s mission is to help graduates from Titusville High School, Pleasantville High School and St. Joseph’s Academy use their time, talent and financial resources for the common good of our students, graduates, school district and the community.  The Titusville Alumni Association maintains an address database of 10,000 plus graduates, mailing a 14 page newsletter twice a year to help keep graduates connected and assist with Class Reunions. Our collection of yearbooks from three schools ranges from 1918 to the most current year.  There are also collections of photographs, portraits, students’ academic works and artwork.  Memorabilia includes wide variety of band uniforms (Rockettes and Majorettes), varsity jackets, sports uniform pieces, rings, jewelry items, and class glasses or mugs.

Titusville Historical Society

The Titusville Historical Society was established in the 1970s as a group dedicated to the preservation and care of Titusville-area history, artifacts, and archival materials. The society represents Titusville and the immediate surrounding areas. At the downtown Heritage Center, the Society maintains a collection of artifacts, photographs, and manuscripts that are directly related to Titusville area history and genealogy. There is a large collection of textiles, photographs, and many regional objects that are available for use at the Heritage Center.  The Titusville Historical Society provides in-person and email answers to your history and genealogy questions.
